Home Schooling
The ROE cannot endorse any homeschool curriculum or program. Homeschooling in Illinois is considered to be a form of private education. Parents/guardians who choose to educate their children at home are under a legal obligation to meet the minimum requirements stated in Illinois’ Compulsory Attendance Law (Section 26-1 of the Illinois School Code).
Please find all the useful information that you need regarding homeschooling, Illinois Learning Standards, and other public education information on the Illinois State Board of Education website. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) does not offer homeschool programs, curriculum, or funding. Families who choose to homeschool are fully responsible for researching, selecting, and implementing the educational materials and structure for their child’s learning.
