Virtual Book Study: Shifting the Balance K-2

Tuesday, January 13, 2026

4:00 pm - 5:00 PM

Join us for a collaborative professional learning experience as we dive into Shifting the Balance K-2: 6 Ways to Bring the Science of Reading into the Balanced Literacy Classroom by Jan Burkins and Kari Yates. This virtual book study will give educators the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the science of reading and explore practical ways to apply the six instructional shifts in their own classrooms. You will engage in meaningful discussions with fellow educators about how each shift can transform literacy instruction. And you’ll walk away with concrete strategies to better support students in becoming confident, skilled readers. We will begin with an in-person kick-off meeting at the ROE, and the subsequent sessions will be held virtually. A study guide will also be provided! The first ten people to register will receive a free book!
