Arts in Action: Local History For Your Classroom

This workshop will provide teachers with opportunities to collaborate and engage with the Arts in Action resources and identify ways to incorporate local stories from multiple perspectives into their existing curriculum.

Day One – Take What You Need: The first day
provides an overview of the Arts in Action resources.
Whether you are looking for an entire unit plan, a
daily lesson plan, or bellringers, we will discuss ways
to include local history into your existing units.

Day Two – Examples from Area Educators: The next
day will begin with “Unheard Voices in the Curriculum”
and an opportunity to hear from previous workshop
participants regarding how they have used local
history resources in their classrooms.

Day Three – Putting It All Together: The last day
allows participants time to curate resources and
materials for their own classrooms, collaborate with
other educators, and discuss ways to incorporate
local history into the existing curriculum.
